Dr. Burket's practice has a very strong emphasis in obstetrics and women's care. Much of his medical training at Oregon Health Sciences University was dedicated to family birthing and women's wellness issues. He chose to attend residency training at Northern Colorado Family Medicine in Greeley, Colorado because of its excellent reputation in obstetric training. Residents spend countless hours learning prenatal care, birthing, high risk management and delivery, obstetric ultrasound and post partum care.
After completing his rural residency training Dr. Burket chose to live in Prineville, Oregon so he could provide care in a small community at all levels of his training. While there he served as Chief of Obstetrics, and managed dozens of high-risk pregnancies and deliveries.
Since moving his practice to Bend in 2002, Dr. Burket has continued his strong emphasis on obstetrics and women's care. Although we don't know exactly how many babies Dr. Burket has delivered in his career, we estimate that the number exceeds 1200!
He truly loves bringing babies into the world to meet their new parents and providing care throughout their childhood.
Dr. Burket has a great working relationship with the perinatologists in Bend. He consults them whenever he feels it is warranted or if there are special needs or circumstances for his patients. Although Dr. Burket was trained to perform Cesarean Sections, the perinatologists provide that service while Dr. Burket assists in the surgery.
